The Agricultural Office represents the Netherlands’ Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Eritrea.
The office:
- functions as a liason and promotes co-operation between the Netherlands and the above-mentioned countries in the areas of agriculture, agri-business, food quality (including veterinarian and phytosaritan issues), fisheries, nature management, agricultural research and education
- promotes Dutch exports of agri-business products and services to the East-African region and vice versa
- offers information to Dutch suppliers of amongst others agricultural products, agricultural machinery, agricultural services and consultancy. The same service is provided to producers and exporters from Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
- wherever possible it assists the local Dutch agri-business sector
- supports small-scale nature conservation initiatives by East African NGO’s and institutions through the so-called KNIP-fund.
The KNIP programme has been extended for 1 more year.
